Writer's block... it happens to the best of us, doesn't it? I think we've all experienced that exasperating feeling of sitting in front of a blank sheet (or screen), fingers itching to write something important down, but you just can't find the words to say it in. Awful, right? Here's a list of ten writing prompts that could be useful anywhere from starting a brand-new story (maybe for the first time) to getting you out of the deep, dark chasm of Plot Hole. If any of these help you, let me know by posting in the comments! :)
1.) He has a secret... 2.) "Nothing you could do or say will ever make me change my mind..." 3.) The round, full moon rose silently above the night-dark forest, illuminating her desperate flight. 4.) "I just want you to know, you seriously have problems," she huffed. 5.) Sometimes in life we think, "If only I could do that differently," but do we really know the consequences of making a different choice? What if a seemingly insignificant decision creates a domino effect that extends far into the future, deciding things like who we marry, or how long we live? Explore the possibilities in story form. 6.) If only this day would never end... 7.) What happened in the character's past? Even if they don't have a dark secret or an act of heroism lurking there, little details like their favorite food, a fond memory made with their family, or a pet peeve bring the character from a 2-D image on the wall, to a living, breathing person. 8.) "Just what do you think you're doing?" his mother asked, standing in the doorway, hands on hips and a frown on her normally pleasant features. 9.) "Not again!" 10.) What was that noise?
