Your character is putting your child to bed one night, when they step on something protruding from under the bed. Upon further investigation it appears to be a tail belonging to—what? A miniature dragon? The family's cat? A creature of unknown name? You decide. 3.) "You did what?" "Only a little bit." "I don't care—do you have any idea what this means for us?" "... something bad will happen?" "No—I mean, yes—no. Sort of. Follow me." 4.) Someone dies, but make their death sudden, unexpected, and necessary. Maybe they were the only character with a specific skill set, and without them the others have to figure out a new way to complete their goal. 5.) Your character comes in contact with someone who is the complete opposite of their personality, but they have to work together to advance the plot. 6.) "What are you doing?" I gasp, wheeling around and in the process scattering the gems in a gleaming, multicolored cascade. 7.) Think of your favorite song. How could that song become a plot? 8.) Two of your characters meet in a place neither one is supposed to be. 9.) "You have .02 seconds to either disappear, or fly away as fast as you can—otherwise, I'm going to kill you." 10.) "The other night I had a dream..." For more writing prompts, check out my previous blog post here. Thanks for reading!
